Hollow
Terms of Use
Effective 30 September 2026

The short version

Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and the people who run Hollow ("Hollow", "we", "us"). By creating an identity or logging in, you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Hollow.

Who can use Hollow
Your identity

Your account is a key pair made on your device, and your 24-word seed phrase is the only way to restore it. Keep it private and keep it safe. Anyone who has it can read your messages and act as you. We never ask for it, and if you lose it, we can't recover your account.

You're responsible for what's done with your identity. Don't sell it, share it, or use someone else's.

What's not allowed

These rules apply everywhere in Hollow, including private chats that we can't read. Don't use Hollow to:

Reports and enforcement

You can report a message, a person, a community or a Feed post from inside the app, or email support@chathollow.com. The person you report is never told who reported them. You can also block anyone, which stops them reaching you straight away.

We review reports within 24 hours. When something breaks these rules, we can:

1:1 and group chats are end-to-end encrypted, so we can't see them. When you report a message from one, your app sends us that message so we can act on it. We can act without warning, and we don't have to explain every decision. If you think we got it wrong, email us.

Your content

What you post and send stays yours. So that Hollow can work, you let us store it, pass it along to the people it's meant for, and show public posts, community messages and profiles to other people on Hollow. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people already have, like messages they've received.

Posts on the Feed and messages in communities are public. Anyone on Hollow can see them, so only post what you'd be fine with anyone seeing.

Ending your use of Hollow

You can stop using Hollow any time, and you can erase your account with Delete Identity Permanently in Settings. We can suspend or ban an account that breaks these terms. We can also change or stop Hollow, or any part of it.

No guarantees

Hollow is provided "as is". We work hard to keep it secure and running, but we can't promise that it will always be available, free of bugs, or that messages will always be delivered. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what other people say or do on Hollow. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law doesn't let us take away.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Hollow after that, you're agreeing to the new terms.
